Background
The beautifully architected Church of St. Anne and Blessed Dominic is a contemporary building found in the peaceful village of Sutton near St. Helens. The over-whelming feature of this building is its octagonal structure which tapers skyward displaying its quite stunning beamed ceiling. Previous lighting efforts have failed to work harmoniously with these key attributes and as a result offered a dull and uninspiring circulation area for visitors.
Solution
On visiting the site it was decided that a pendant luminaire, run in continuous format with angled corner units, offering an upward/downward light distribution would be required.
The Sira range met with this criteria exactly. Not only does it run parallel with all eight sides of the building but its bi-directional nature offers an upward light distribution which effortlessly brings to life the hand crafted wooden structure of the ceiling.
