Leahurst House, University of Liverpool

Location

Neston.

Background

Leahurst House on the University of Liverpool campus was in desperate need of modernisation. Having been the central point of the Leahurst site for sometime in 2006 it was decided that this grand building would be completely refurbished to create a modern and exciting learning environment. Lighting was required to revamp not only the lecture theatres, offices, communal areas and corridors but also a gym located in the basement.

Solution

For the lecture theatres our Combi and Generation luminaires were specified. These were all supplied with TP(a) fire retardant prismatic panels and controlled via a switch-dimming unit, allowing light to be lowered for presentations or if ambient levels of daylight are sufficient.

For the open plan communal areas the Sira was chosen, a very adaptable fitting which enhances any environment in which it is located. The Sira has the advantage of also providing a bi-directional light output, offering upward light distribution to the adjacent ceiling. Our Impervia luminaire was ideally suited to the gyms environment. This fitting is designed with a tough, corrosion resistant polycarbonate body and acrylic diffuser which are sealed and secured to IP65 by durable polycarbonate clips.

The Amenity Decorative was used on the stairwells. This luminaire encompasses an air of style with the functionality of a robust polycarbonate body and diffuser.
